About Us
HealthSmart Pharmacy is an independent pharmacy owned by Nick and Lynn Holt of Wake Forest. Lynn is the pharmacist and Nick manages the business and financial portion of the pharmacy. They both attended college at the University of North Carolina and graduated in 1990. Nick also graduated from N.C. State with a Masters degree in public administration in 1998. Lynn worked for years as a hospital pharmacist at WakeMed and Raleigh Community and also as Assistant Director of Pharmacy at the NC State Vet School Teaching Hospital. Nick worked for the State of NC before opening HealthSmart Pharmacy.
As a high school student working as a Pharmacy technician at Almand’s Drug Store in Rocky Mount, Lynn dreamed of one day becoming a Pharmacist and owning her own Pharmacy. Lynn, Nick, and their three children Abby, Zach and Tyler moved to Wake Forest in 2001 from Raleigh to be closer to jobs and their children’s school and that dream became a reality in 2005, when Lynn and Nick opened HealthSmart Pharmacy in Wake Forest.
The Holts’ goal for HealthSmart Pharmacy is to be customer oriented, a golden rule approach to treat others as you would wish to be treated. Lynn also saw the need for a pharmacy that could fill prescriptions in minutes, not hours and that offered unique products and services not being offered at area pharmacies. The end result – a pharmacy where the phone is answered by a real person, prescriptions are filled in minutes, and medical equipment such as wheelchairs, crutches, ostomy products, braces and wound products are stocked. And if it is not in stock, no problem. The product can usually be ordered for next day delivery. Can’t get to the pharmacy to pick it up? Again, no problem! It can be delivered to your door. Have a sick or sleeping child or perhaps its cold or rainy? Use our fast and convenient drive-thru for prescriptions and over the counter items!
In the fall, we offer flu shot clinics with no appointment necessary or long lines to wait in. Medicare Part B and Blue Cross Blue Shield of NC members can receive this vaccination for FREE.
